¹⁰ His disciples asked him, “Then why do the experts in the law say that Elijah must come first?”

¹¹ Jesus answered them, “Yes, Elijah is coming and will restore all things,^{[a] 12} but I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him. Instead they did to him whatever they desired. In the same way the Son of Man will also suffer at their hands.”
